JRN 300: Some Updates

First, from me: in using Spartan Newsroom instead of individual news sites, we do NOT need to put bylines on top of our stories. They are automatically generated by our Wordpress account.

Next, this is from JRN 300 section coordinator Joe Grimm:

Have your students do these 5 things to make their posts work right:

1. Have them go to bio and select the proper name so we don't get anymore stories by 

chmuraan

​. Also have them complete their bio and add a photo so they look nice to potential employers. This only has to happen once. This will generate the correct byline, so they should never add a byline to their stories or they will wind up with a repeat.

2. On each story, have them fill in the excerpt field with a little teaser so their home-page descriptions aren't simply automated text grabs that end in the middle of a sentence with a ...

​3. Ask them to add a featured image (postage stamp size). With a click, they can prevent the featured image from ALSO showing on top of the story (unless it is a case where that's what they want.)

4. Have them add their photo credits in that space on the media file, not as part of the caption or to the story.

​5. Please do NOT have them add tags or ​"top terms" which generate overlines and other kinds of odd things.
